Yuriko Kawase
Based in Tokyo, creates artworks.
Self-taught in various forms of production including drawing, oil, watercolor, monoprint, and digital art.
Currently focuses on sumi ink art.
In addition to she artwork, she also produces poetry books and photographs.
Using natural leaves and flowers as motifs, she paints unique works based on inspirations, such as visions of nameless plants from places has visited in meditation.
She values inspiration and creates works that leave a lasting impression on the viewer despite she simple style of using only sumi ink and water.
She has a large international clientele, and she works are sold at exhibitions, private sales, art magazines, and charity auctions.

I am currently exploring ideas for a piece that focuses on the cyclical energy of small plants and flowers.
The world that seems familiar and unfamiliar to me is comfortable and very interesting to me.
I observe it as the seasons change.
I don't think I would have known this 15-16 years ago when I started coming to this forest.
There is a complete cyclical world out there.

Draw For.
Contributed the work “Feather” to “Draw For” Draw For Young Lives in the UK.
Every person has a feather in their heart.
Proceeds from the artwork will be used to prevent suicide among young people in the UK.
To those who supported this Draw Four project, a campaign to prevent underage suicide in the UK.
It appears that the Draw Four charity is currently inactive.
It seems that the URL for Draw Four that we had previously pasted has become a completely different website for a completely different project.

The “Musical Environment,” a combination of an acoustic soundscape composed by freak folk musician Birdfeeders and an ink painting by Yuriko Kawase, was published in the Plein Air issue of this journal. and “With Air”. Read below to learn more about his compositional process and inspiration. As you listen, follow the sounds through the lightly spun lines of the artwork. The sounds will stop and start with a pause, and float to the sky above you, where you will be aware of them. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the historic charity auction of contemporary artists.
Original paintings by contemporary artists will be available for purchase at the auction. Proceeds will be used through the Trust Group to benefit hepatitis C patients and those who are too poor to go to the hospital.
